Arsenal are looking for their first taste of victory in Europe after a defeat in their first European final against Barcelona in Paris.
The Blues are favourites to win in Baku given they finished above Arsenal in the Premier League. However, Van Persie, who spent eight years with Arsenal, believes the Gunners will be victorious in Azerbaijan.
‘Personally, I think Arsenal have the edge,’ Van Persie told the BBC.
‘They’re a little bit better. But Chelsea have Eden Hazard and he is a very special player – at any time he can come up with something.’
Arsenal will be without Henrikh Mkhitaryan after the midfielder confirmed he would not travel to Baku given the political tension between the country and his native Armenia.
UEFA have faced criticism for holding the final in Baku and there’s been calls to move the event elsewhere to a city that can guarantee the safety of all players.
