Manchester United have submitted an opening bid of €40 million (£35m) for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.
Dembele has made an instant impact at Lyon after his £19.7m move from Celtic last summer, scoring 23 goals in 51 appearances for the France club.
Meanwhile, United are looking to bolster Ole Gunnar attacking options by recruiting a new winger and a striker.
Romelu Lukaku’s future at Old Trafford is also uncertain as reports on Friday claimed that the Belgian striker has now agreed personal terms with Inter, who are set to appoint Antonio Conte as their new manager.
Conte, who wanted Lukaku when he was manager at Chelsea, is keen for the 26-year-old to join Inter but the Italian club are looking to pay lower than United’s £70m asking price.
According to Goal France, United have now sent their first offer in excess of €40m (£35m) to Lyon in the hope of securing a quick deal for Dembele.
Dembele still has four years remaining on the deal he signed with Lyon last summer.
